House of St. Br. Benilde Romancon
Fondly called as the House of “Ben,” the name assumed was from St. Br. Benilde Romancon (1805-1862), who “was noted for his spirit of prayer and charity, and he also distinguished himself by showing great wisdom in leading his confreres, and counseling both students and their parents in Christian living.” The official House mascot is the mythical fire-breathing, flying dragon. In many Eastern and Native American cultures dragons were, and in some cultures still are, revered as representative of the primal forces of nature and the universe. They are associated with wisdom—often said to be wiser than humans—and longevity. In some cultures, they are said to be capable of human speech. They are also said to be able to talk to all animals. The primary color representation of the House is yellow. Yellow is a bright, cheerful color, often associated with happiness and peace. The secondary color is orange. Like yellow, orange is bright and cheerful. |

House of St. Br. Jaime Hilario
Fondly called as the House of “Jai,” the name assumed was from St. Br. Jaime Hilario (1898-1937), who was a martyr and whose last words before he was executed during the Spanish Civil War were “To die for Christ, young people, is to live.” The official House mascot is the mythical firebird phoenix. The bird is said to regenerate when wounded, thus almost immortal and invincible - a symbol of divinity. Tears from a phoenix can heal wounds. The primary color representation of the House is red, the original color of the phoenix. In Chinese culture, red is the color of good luck and success. In Christianity, red also symbolizes the blood of martyrs. Above all, red represents the idea of love. The secondary color is purple. The original color purple is the color of a dye made from a mollusk that, because of its incredible expense (more expensive than gold), in classical antiquity became a symbol of royalty because only the very wealthy could afford it. |

House of St. Br. Miguel Febres Cordero
Fondly called the House of “Migz,” the name assumed was from St. Br. Miguel Febres Cordero (1854-1910), who was an outstanding scholar due to his prolific production of textbooks and writings on literature and the natural sciences, and he was noted also as an “epitome of kindness and affability.” The official House mascot is the tiger. Tigers (Panthera tigris) are mammals of the Felidae family. They are apex predators and the largest feline species in the world. Strength, cunning, and courage are the admirable traits of the tiger. The primary color representation of the House is black. Black is not a color, strictly speaking. It is the absence of all colors. It then denotes mystery, providing a sense of potential and possibility. It is also associated with power, elegance and formality. The secondary color is brown. It is the color of the earth, thus implying love for the environment like the color green. Some shades of brown create a warm, comfortable feeling of wholesomeness, naturalness and dependability. |

House of St. Br. Mutien Marie Wiaux
Fondly called as the House of “Myu,” the name assumed was from St. Br. Mutien-Marie Wiaux [pronounced as “wee-yo”](1841-1917), who “gave a perfect example of all the virtues; especially notable were his patience, obedience and his religious observance of the Rule.” The official House mascot is the blue whale. The Blue Whale (Balaenoptera musculus) is a marine mammal said to be the largest animal to have ever lived on Earth. Whales are associated with intelligence, longevity, might, gentleness, peace and love for the environment. The primary color representation of the House is blue. It is often the color associated with the sea and sky. It conveys calm, strength, friendliness, steadfastness, intelligence and confidence. The secondary color is pink. It denotes charm, playfulness and tenderness often identified with positive child-like attitudes. It also conveys good health, freshness, happiness and general contentment. |
