June 22, 2007: Frosh* and Transferees Find a Home in the Annual Sorting Ceremony
(* frosh is the new "in" and acceptable inclusive term for freshmen) It was another magical Sorting afternoon of Friday, June 22, 2007, this time for the High School Frosh (Freshmen) from the day and night high school and also this year's transferees. The older batches, mostly composed of Seniors assisted their House Parents in the pride-filled entrance ceremony to the gym. Br. Dennis, the Headmaster welcomed everyone, gave a brief description of the Brothers House Program and presided over the uniquely creative Sorting Ceremony (the first ever in the 49 years of glorious history of La Salle Academy). Ten random names were picked from the first year and transferees. These students were then asked to sit one by one on the Magical Sorting Seat. The House assignment was then announced though the aid of a charmed computer. After these thrilling and suspense-filled announcements, the HS Student Councils (Day and Night) came out with a simple surprise entrance number, with the gentlemen in nearly formal attire and the ladies in their stunning gowns topped with wizard's hats. These student leaders then proceeded to the different Homerooms to announce the House Assignments. After the announcements, a simple contest was held in order to determine who can make the best House Mascot sound and action. Br. Rey dutifully announced the following winners:

1st Place - Jai                  2nd Place - Myu                    3rd Place - Migz                          4th Place - Ben

June 20, 2007: Grade School Homerooms Sorted - Happy Frog's Orange Eggs Used
The Grade School classes experienced their first taste of sorting last Wednesday, June 20, 2007. May 19, 2007: How SMART are the Housemates?
During the Multiple SMARTS workshop last May 15-18, the Headmaster, Br. Dennis initiated some challenging games for the Houses. The first game was How SMART M.I.?, a quiz contest. The House of Migz won first place (10 points) followed by Jai (7 points), while Myu (4 points) and Ben (4 points) shared the third place. The second challenge was consistent attendance in the Workshop through the Suki Card contest. First place still went to Migz with a raw score of 117 signatures (equivalent to 20 points), followed by Ben with 96 attendance signatures (equivalent to 15 points). Myu came in a very very very close third with 95 signatures (equivalent to 12 points) and still a close one for Jai as it came in at fourth place with 91 signatures (equivalent to 10 points). The running total for each House then is found below (as of May 23, 2007)

Migz - 30 points
Ben - 19 points
Jai - 17 points
Myu - 16 points

The Headmaster has also declared and promulgated a decree that the two games played are now history and the points are final (no demands fro recount will be entertained, unlike our national elections). Congratulations to everyone and on to the next challenge!

May 15, 2007: The Brothers House Program Officially Launched
The Brothers House Program was officially launched in La Salle Academy on the feast of the St. John Baptist de la Salle. The launching was called the House Blessing where four couple teacher/staff- house parents were blessed by the school chaplain, Fr. Jean Marie Bassok. The House Couples for each Brothers House are:

Mr. Jay Velez & Mrs. Judith Acain (House of Br. Ben)
Mr. Randy Lou Pendang & Mrs. Maria Rebecca Flores (House of Br. Jai)
Mr. Desiderio Pagdato, Jr. & Miss Cyrelle Jun Alcuizar (House of Br. Migz)
Mr. Ian Leo Maglasang & Miss Analou Sismar (House of Br. Myu)

The Official House Banners were also blessed and turned over to the respective House Couples in a meaningful ceremony made even more magical with the first official public broadcasting of the Official Brothers House Theme Music, entitled "Spellbound Quest."
